Science & Technology
The scientific agendas of the research groups (FG) require a proven, sustainable and regularly expanded and updated infrastructure at the highest technological level. To this end, the FZB has established Science & Technology Groups (S&T) for innovative methods of histology, microscopy, flow cytometry and data science and operates a state-of-the-art animal facility for mice. Further essential technologies such as high-throughput sequencing, genome, metagenome and transcriptome analyses as well as mass spectrometry-based lipidome and metabolome analyses are provided by individual FGs for the entire center.
Various medical infrastructures are located at the Research Center Borstel, Leibniz Lung Center so that our research results can be transferred into medical applications and benefit patients. These include the biobank, the study center and the FZB's pulmonology practice. They make an important contribution to translational research and work closely with both program areas. The pneumology practice also contributes to pneumology patient care in the region.
