We are the lung research center of the Leibniz Association.
Our main focus: Common diseases such as asthma, allergies and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), as well as infection-related inflammation of the lungs, in particular tuberculosis (TB).

Together against antibiotic-resistant tuberculosis in Europe

On 8–9 June 2026, more than 50 leading specialists in the field gathered in Chișinău, Republic of Moldova, for the 1^st Antimicrobial Stewardship in Tuberculosis Conference. A further 50 experts joined online, with participants representing more than 40 countries across the World Health Organization (WHO) European Region.

Drug-resistant tuberculosis threatens children in low- and middle-income countries

A comprehensive global analysis reveals a marked increase in drug-resistant tuberculosis (DR-TB) among children. Girls in particular face a higher risk of death—highlighting significant gaps in diagnosis, treatment, and equitable access to healthcare.

TBnet Academy 2026 in Vilnius

In the year marking the 20th anniversary of the Tuberculosis Network European Trials Group, TBnet successfully held its 12th TBnet Academy from 31 May to 3 June 2026 in Vilnius, Lithuania. The Academy once again brought together 20 outstanding young scholars from across Europe working in translational science, microbiology and clinical medicine in the fields of tuberculosis and diseases caused by non-tuberculous mycobacteria.
