5. DanGer_ous Mycobacteria Club Meeting 2025 in Borstel

Leading tuberculosis researchers from Denmark, Germany and other countries gathered once again for the annual Danish-German (DanGer_ous) Mycobacteria Club Meeting.

Over 60 participants from Denmark, Sweden, France, Portugal, Romania, Moldova, and special guests from South Korea and Papua New Guinea traveled to Borstel to discuss the latest research developments and challenging clinical case reports.

Each year, the highlight of the event is the exchange of insights on difficult-to-treat cases. In an era where tuberculosis control continues to face new challenges, the meeting provides a valuable platform for collaboration and the sharing of innovative solutions.

“The international exchange among colleagues is more important than ever,” says Prof. Dr. Christoph Lange, Medical Director of the Research Center Borstel. “We are very grateful for the close partnership with our Danish neighbors and colleagues from other European countries who participate in this meeting every year.”

Anne Oleischeck, Project Manager in the Division of Clinical Infectious Diseases at the Research Center Borstel, organizes the event and uses her fluency in Danish and Swedish to strengthen connections with Scandinavian counterparts. “Collaborating with our Scandinavian neighbors is always a special pleasure,” says Anne Oleischeck.

In addition to discussing clinical cases and research findings, this year’s meeting also focused on the development of new therapeutic approaches and the improvement of diagnostic methods. The close dialogue between research institutions, clinics, and international experts plays a vital role in the fight against tuberculosis and in finding innovative solutions for difficult-to-treat cases.
